Army Vehicles
Army vehicles are generally divided into six categories. The development of new technologies has resulted in faster more efficient vehicles. Presently work is being carried out to develop vehicles that can be used unmanned for very dangerous missions. The use of these vehicles are extremely important. They aid soldiers and other military personnel to carry out their daily functions and are instrumental in military campaigns as combat vehicles. The following demonstrates examples of the types of army vehicles that are presently being used by the United States military.
The upgraded HMMWV is representative of the up to 20,000 lb GVW wheeled vehicles (10,000 lb max axle) and is used extensively by the Army. Many vehicles in this weight range are quite often derivatives of commercially available vehicles and have almost identical performance characteristics to those in the marketplace (120 MPH).
The STRYKER family of multi-mission wheeled vehicles and the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV), are representative of vehicles in the up to 80,000 lb GVW weight class (axle loads to
15,000 lb, speeds will eventually reach the 100 MPH range). The present objective is to make these vehicles and their off-shoots faster and more agile, as new technologies are instituted. This category of vehicle is expected to make up a large percentage of the Army’s vehicle fleet.
The M1120 HEMTT is one of the standard Army forward resupply vehicles in the up to 140,000 lb GVW weight class. The HEMTT is 66,000 lb GVW; it also has the option of being attached to a trailer which adds just under 37,000 lb of additional weight. Max. axle loadings are 20,000 lb which are within the present design parameters for Federal highways, as a result, these trucks are road legal throughout the United States.
The M916 M2/M3 Line Haul Tractor is another class of army vehicle which when used with a fully loaded trailer has a gross vehicle weight of about 130,000 lb. However, axle loadings remain within or very near the 25,000 lb general upper limit for over the highway travel as result the M915/M916 family of heavy line haul trucks are legal for use on Federal highways. These vehicles are essentially military by-products of commercially available line haul tractors. These, or equivalent, vehicles will likely remain as the Army’s standard over the highway resupply vehicles for many decades to come. These vehicles are presently the most speed capable of the heavy trucks (90+ MPH), when fully loaded they have the highest axle loads, and have the largest percent of paved road vs. unpaved road use.
The Army’s Heavy Equipment Transporter or HET with tank payload is another class of Military Vehicle. This class of vehicle (GVW >140,000 lbs) is not one that would be tested on the high-speed track, but would instead use the upgraded Dynamometer Course along with tracked vehicles.

Military Aircraft Spares
By John Routledge
What happens to military aircraft if a regime falls out of favour?
The truth is they usually possess the level of skill and creativity to reverse engineer and provide for themselves. Necessity is almost always the beginning of such development, with shortages of Western technology and replacement parts.
Military aircraft parts reverse engineering
Rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing technology began more than 20 years ago in 1986. It allows the creation of a low-cost part directly from a CAD file in a matter of minutes or hours, depending on the part’s complexity. This is sometimes known as additive fabrication.
In the military aerospace market, the method has attracted interest because of its potential for part cost savings and the ability to create new copies of legacy parts from either the original CAD information or reverse engineering data.
But military spares also require high-temperature performance. Higher speeds and higher engine performance drive higher material specs and in a lot of areas on the aircraft the materials that lend themselves to this process are not always adequate.
Since the end of the Iran-Iraq War, Iran looked to the international milaero spares markets for military aircraft spare parts or other relevant equipment to maintain their Western aircraft fleet. Their aircraft industries also appeared to have been moderately successful in reverse engineering, converting a number of older jet fighters.
Charges have been successfully brought against those illegally exporting components for fighter jets and S-65 Sikorsky military assault helicopters.
Despite the current boost in government military spending, military aircraft in service are largely older than their pilots, with no plans to build new bombers for the next 10 years. Aging aircraft require ever-increasing amounts of expensive maintenance, repairs and replacement parts. U.S. military budget alone has allocated twenty-five percent for spare parts and military ground support systems.
aviation-database.com has lots of resources for the aircraft industry. The web is a vast source of information. Aviation-database collects the industry into one huge database of contacts. Military aircraft spares are introduced in this article giving technical guidance and you can click on the logo top or bottom to return to the searchable database giving contact details of companies worldwide providing this service.

Military Helicopters – Most Common Roles of Military Helicopters
By Brian Garvinand Jeff W
Military Helicopters are primarily used by the Navy and United States Marine Corps to transport troops into a Combat Zone or LZ which is known as a Landing Zone. Sometimes they are known as Hot LZ’s, which means a Landing Zone that is heavily engaged in Combat. Sometimes these are used in Combat Search and Rescue as well as Medical Evacuation. Usually NCO’s or Non Commissioned Officers use their ground radios to communicate with the Helicopter Pilot to give them their ground location.
Military Attack Helicopters
These machines are armed and are usually used to take out enemy Tanks as well as used in Close Air Support. In the role of CAS, A Marine Corps Forward Observer, which can be a Marine with an MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) of 0861, is used to call in Grid Coordinates of an enemy bunker, a tank, a moving convoy or other enemy target so the Helicopter Pilot in the air will know exactly where to aim their missiles.
Grid Coordinates have to be estimated and adjusted sometimes for moving targets, based on the speed and direction of the moving target. Also note that the US Army has Forward Observers as well. The word Helo is another popular term used by Troops.
Military Transport Helicopters
These are used to place troops in certain combat positions and locations. They are used as a support transport system for combat operations as well as being constantly used in training. Sometimes troops can exit the aircraft by Fast Roping, which troops are attached to a very heavy rope with a D-Ring. Sometimes they exit on Parachute, as in the case of 1st Anglico Troops, the 82nd Airborne and some other elite units. And in some cases they are taken right to the ground and just jump off one of the sides.
Military Observation Helicopters
The purpose of these are to spy on enemy troops and to pickup intel and learn about their tactics. At first they use to use balloons. Later they started using lighter airplanes. The ability for these to stay in one location for a good period of time made them ideal for these missions. Two common Recon Helos were the Taylorcraft L-2 and the Fieseler Fi 156. The line of observation used to be limited to what the aircrew could see. Later on however, Optical Sensor Systems and Infrared Cameras substantially increased this range.

The Red Chinese Army and the US Military – A Relationship That Needs Attention
If you’ve ever wondered why there is so much tension between the United States and Chinese military, then perhaps you need to do a little bit of research and some reading. Now there are all kinds of great reports from the RAND Corporation, the US government, and many from the free market economic think tanks. Those are all great places to get information. And I’d also like to recommend a pretty good book to you, one that I own, and it is one that will enlighten you a little;
“Red Dragon Rising – Coming This China’s Military Threat to America” by Edward Timberlake and William C. Triplett II, Regnery Publishing Inc. a division of Eagle publishing company, Washington DC, USA; 1999, ISBN: 0-89526-258-4.
Many parts of this book are highly graphic descriptions, and images of actions taken by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army or PLA against unfortunately its own people, and many of these are the human rights abuses that have been talked about in the United States for years. It appears that China is turning a corner, but they are still very much into controlling their population, their media, and even the Internet.
China likes to be in control of lots of things, and their central planning way of doing things includes nearly every aspect of their society and civilization. From their industry clusters to even their weather, China wants to be in control. Lately, they have been working very hard to regain disputed territories, and they have a goal of eventually reuniting with Taiwan.
Although this book was written before the year 2000, it makes a number of bold statements, such as the reality that China has nuclear weapons pointed towards the United States, that Chinese spies have stolen vital national security secrets, high-tech industrial know-how, and even sold weapons to our enemies. We’d like to think since then, after helping China on the road to become the third-largest economy of the world, that they would be not only our favored trading partners, but also our best friends.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case, and I believe it’s important to read what was going on prior to the year 2000, as well as what is going on right now in the world when it comes to China. I would recommend that anyone who claims to be an expert on China, their military, their economy, or their future read this book first.
In fact, I’d go so far as to say that China needs to work very hard on becoming the United States best friend and not in name only, but in actual actions. Otherwise, the future Cold War with China, could end up much differently than the one with the Russians. We need to be thinking here, and take this more seriously. Indeed, China is a great place to visit, unbelievable culture, and history, and it is paramount that we remain friends. But at the same time, let’s not kid ourselves.

Military Headphones & Headsets
The communication network, with its highly advanced technology, has evolved over the years and is now providing excellent interconnectivity between the different parts of the world. Gone are the days when doves and secret messengers were sent to exchange news and information. After the invention of the radio and telephone, the communication aspect took a drastic turn and it has improved in leaps and bounds since then. The latest radar and satellite technology had enhanced the communication and it is now possible to even communicate from space. The need for effective communication is high today as from the laymen to the higher military and governmental organisation everyone looks for effective and high quality communication systems to communicate with their peers. Security of a nation depends hugely on the military services and the border Security Forces. They guard the nation from enemy attacks and terrorism. Hence an effective radio communication system is imperative with high frequency and undisturbed frequency to enable communication within the base stations and with other military base station and higher officials. Military headphones and headsets are used for individual communication needs.
Head sets are either wireless or coded receivers which enables undisturbed radio signals to be received with clarity. Headphones and headsets are instrumental in making the radio signals private and portable. Using the headsets the user can receive signals even in highly crowded or noisy environments. The outside noise is cut off and hence the reception quality is high. Initially the headsets looked huge and bulky but with technological advancements the design and size has reduced considerably. It has become a tiny earlobe or it can be invisible behind the ears so no one can see it. Special headsets to reduce the outside noise completely are also available today. This is of great help in the aviation industry today as the flight controllers without the hindrance of the noisy environment outside can effectively guide the flight to land or take off perfectly. Headsets and headphones also are used for enjoying high quality digital music. You can just connect the music system to the headphone and start enjoying it without any outside noise.
The military headphones and headsets are similar to normal headsets but the receiving frequency might differ according to the need. Some very important messages might be transferred and it might not be safe to receive it in normal receivers or speakers. In this case headsets are used to receive such top security messages. The messages cannot be heard by others and the receivers are the only person to whom the message is confirmed. So the need for the headsets and headphones are very imperative for military services. The price range of the headphones depends hugely on the type of headsets used. There are very cheap headphones and you can also get highly priced good branded headsets for the best audio reception. Headsets are used to get a unique audio reception to enhance the listening untouched with outside sounds or noises. It can transmit even the subtlest sounds very acutely. So using the headphones and headsets are a great experience in itself.
